Does anyone know if there is a way to run vfp 6.0 program on the windows ce platform that runs on portable data collection devices? If so do you need a different compiler or will the vfp 6.0 for windows work?

Frank

Yes I know - VFP (any version) doesn't work on CE.

even after compile to .exe? It still can't run on win ce? I am a clever newbie...[peace]

Not sure if this is any help (as it doesn't answer your question but might be what you need to implement a solution!)

Take a look at:

...and at their product "Satellite Forms"

Shelbytll,
FoxPro .EXE's are simply a shell to find the runtime files - most of it is really just data for the RT. Since both the operating system and processor are different than a standard PC, NO code written for the PC will directly run on a Pocket PC (CE) or Palm device - including the VFP runtime.

Rick

BTW, Satellite Forms is for Palm OS. So far, there isn't anthing for CE. Anybody interested in making a buck?

If you have Visual Basic or C++ + Embedded tools, you could look at a tool such as Codebase

It provides a DLL that will allow you to access the tables and provides a number of Foxpro type commands for manipulating data.

It's not cheap at 695.00 but it gives a lot of functionality.

There are a number of other tools such as appforge ( )but they use PDB (pocket MDB) and many others all with pluses and minuses.
