Hello,
I work in technical support for a company which develops its own software. We recently changed the installer over to Installshield and when installing our Windows 98 users were told that they had to install the Y2K updates first. This has been fine apart from one user.

He is using Windows 98 Second Edition and when trying to install the software gets the message:

“MDAC 2.6 Sp2 cannot be installed on this machine. MDAC 2.6 Sp2 requires any one of the following configurations”

and then prompts for the Y2K updates.

Firstly I was a bit baffled as I thought these updates were included in W98 SE.

I tried to install the updates with him anyway. The Y2K Update 1 seems to install fine but when trying to install Y2K Update 2, the user gets a message saying that update 1 needs to be installed first before Update 2 can be installed....which of course we have already done.

I also tried to install the Customer Service pack on his computer as the updates are included in this pack but still having no luck....

Does anyone out there have any ideas?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Thank You

Just a note, the Win98 Service Pack 1 was for the first version only, not for Win98 Second Edition.
