Hi,

Does anybody know any issues of Procomm Plus with Windows 98?
I wrote a script to transfer a file and sometimes the sending file window shows a time out and the transfer stops. However, running the same script in the same system but with windows NT 4.0 I never get a time out. Is there any patch for Windows 98? (I am using Procomm Plus 4.8)

Thanks in advance

I'm not aware of any Win98-specific issues, nor am I aware of any patches to 4.8, other than an updated FAPI32.DLL. I don't recall what this update was for, and I think you really have to dig on Symantec's web site to find it.

Are you making a dialup connection to the system that you are sending the file to? Are both the NT and Win98 machines mostly identical hardware-wise, including the modem and modem drivers? It sounds like an intermittent problem with the modem connection to me, rather than a problem with the script.

Another thing you might want to try is uploading the file manually several times on the Win98 machine to see if you can eliminate any issues with the script (although I don't think the script is suspect since it works on you NT machine).

Thanks Knob for your answer!
Yes it is a dial up connection and I tried manually (Win 98 and Win NT) and didn't get time outs. I was thinking it could be a compatibility problem of a script running with win 98 so that is why I was asking about any patch but I will check the modem drivers first.

Thanks
