HI all,
I own a never-before-used Windows 98 install disk that I tried to install on a new low-end system so that I have a faster machine on which to run my library of legacy software that won't run on XP.
However, my IP's interface installer wants to install IE6.0 which hangs the DSL modem driver installation. As far as I can tell, the problem is missing Windows files.
I can't access the Internet without the DSL driver, and I can't update Windows 98 without accessing the internet.
It's a catch 22.
Is there a way to download the necessary update files on another machine and carry them over to the new system on a CD, for example?
In that case, how do I get past the Windows Updater wanting to scan my online system to identify needed updates when the new offline system needs them all?
