There is a lot of black space around my desktop...when I open a program and the window is maximized..i'm not getting the fill page and not getting the scroll bar..when i minimize i get the scroll bar...something is wrong with the settings in windows 98....any ideas? already tried display in control panel thanks

Check your monitor settings. You may have the display Horizontal size too big.
