I have a workgroup with w2k and win98 machines.

The w2k machines can manipulate tha win98 files, but win98 machines can't see w2k partitions cause needs a password.

How can I see w2k partitions with win98 without a user password.

How can I configure w2k for this.

If the error message you get is "The domain password you supplied is not correct, or access to your logon server has been denied."

or

"event ID 681 (account logon failure) and event ID 529 (unknown user name or bad password) may be logged in the Security log on the server.

You must restart your computer before a successful logon can occur."

There is a fix for that here:
The English version of this fix should have the following file attributes or later:

Date Time Version Size File name Operating system
--------------------------------------------------------------------
11/14/2000 11:33a 4.10.2154 165,461 Vredir.vxd Windows 98
11/14/2000 11:47a 4.10.2229 165,461 Vredir.vxd Windows 98
Second Edition
11/14/2000 11:15a 4.90.3003 161,849 Vredir.vxd Windows Me

You have to create users in computer management users and groups. Then assign them a password and/or have them change it at the next logon.
This is a security feature in W2K to keep unauthorized people from accessing your computer.
If you have a user on your w98 pc you would create the account on w2k with their name.
