Hey,

Ever since I formatted my hard drive, and re-installed Windows 98, it takes a good 5 minutes to boot up and get to the login screen. I can't say I have ever had this problem before. Since then I have installed programs and Windows updates, n the bootup time hasn't changed at all (I know it would usually get longer) It is almost as if it is waiting for something to boot. I've installed and formatted a few Hard Drives in my time but can't say i've encountered it being this slow unless it is piled up with software.

Thanks for any help

Sam

Hey evreyone thanks for your responses,

had some personal issues to deal with over the last few days but hopefully when I get back tonight I should be able to let you know what I've done to attempt to sort the problem out.

TekTippy4U-

maybe my description sucked. all i meant was search on an engine for which .cab that regedit is in and that would more than likely lead to a description of the extraction process.
what does sfc have to do with anything? do you have a special version of win98 that backs up these files? any win98 i have ever seen, sfc has only told that the file has been deleted and that is all.

your lack of knowledge has nothing to do with my bad advice due to being tired.

SFC will also tell you if a file has been corrupted and if it has been modified.

HELL-OOOOOOO; EVERYONE INTERESTED

[Red]SFC is an EXTRACTION TOOL[/RED] as well as a file verification tool

Hey everyone,

Thanks for all your help, I disabled the 2 network cards in bios and the comp now boots up in about 30 seconds. Thanks for all your help.

Cheers
