Windows 98 ATAPI Boot Up Incompatiability

I just fixed a PC for my friend, and it is up and running fine, except for when i boot up, i get a message saying that the primary slave (32x CD-ROM) is not ATAPI Compatiable, is there anyway to get rid of that, because now you have to press F1 while it is booting up, which is quite a bummer.It is set to boot off the HDD, and CD-ROM is not selected, so it should not need to check it.
