Hi:

Banging my head against wall on this one...

Have a Windows 2000 Server running AD
Windows 95 Clients using TCP/IP and DNS/WINS to find server; intermittently get "No domain server available to validate password"

Clicking on Cancel on this error message takes me back to the logon dialog box.....

Clicking on OK again on the logon dialog box mostly takes me in, logs me on to the network etc etc...

My problem is that this intermittent logon problem occurs...

Clients are configured with both DNS and WINS server IP addresses...

Any clues??

Get the DSCLIENT.EXE (newest version) from Microsoft.

"In space, nobody can hear you click..."

Another thing you can do is create a file called lmhosts (no extension, and put it in the c:\windows directory). Basically open a dos prompt, and type edit hosts, then type the following in:

192.168.0.1 2000SERVER #PRE #DOM:DOMAINNAME

Replace the ip address with your server address, replace 2000server with your server name, and replace domainname with your domainname. I remember reading that this file is case sensitive, so keep your caps lock on. Save it, exit, and make sure it is in c:\windows. Reboot.
