Hi,

Just a quick question. I have windows 2000 server installed with an adsl/router. Is it best to use the windows DHCP for clients or use the router for DHCP.

thanks.

I actually use both for redundency. Have a scope of x.x.x.1-100 on one and x.x.x.101-200 on the other. That way if one fails, the network does not go down. If you can only use one, I prefer windows. The DHCP snap-in provides a lot more info and administrative functions than most of the DSL routers do... Thanks,

Matt Wray

depends on the size of the network and if you router supports NAT. If its a small network I would go with the router BUT also have a DHCP scope setup but NOT active just incase your router fails you would have your network back up with minimal fuss. If your router dont support NAT than stick with the router DHCPas well.
