I just recently built 3 new servers. Installed Win 2K on all 3, created the domain and added the 2 others to the domain. 2 of the 3 are exact duplicates in hardware. Soyo Dragon Ultra MB's with integrated 10/100 NIC and we added a Linksys EG1032 Gigabit NIC's. We only want to use the Gig NIC's so we disabled the 10/100's. On one machine it works perfectly fine, on the other when the NIC comes up there is only 1 way communication, meaning it only sends data but does not receive. When we disable it and re-enable it it works fine. Just in case it was a hardware issue we purchased one more NIC, the same one, and it did the same thing... STUMPED!! Any ideas??
P.S. We tried it with the 10/100 integrated NIC and it did the same thing..

Since it's not the NIC, check you cables, cablesystem and switches.

I already replaced the patch cable, tried the same port that the other Server is working perfectly in. Not sure what else there might be, but it has to be software related...

Try uninstalling and reinstalling the NIC software.

I have done that as well. Very frustrated!

Also, just so you know. This is the second gigabit card I tried and it also happens with the integrated NIC.

My first experience with a 10/100/1000 copper NIC was two weeks ago in a new Compaq ML350. It's an integrated NC7760 NIC but I believe the manufacture is actually Broadcom. My switches only go to 100Mb so I set negotiation to 100 full. I had sluggish response and multiple transmit and recieve errors. If I set negotiation back to Auto everything worked fine. I should've just left it alone.[hammer]

Try to clear "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" option in "Power Management" Tab when NIC configure vadimp@yandex.ru
