Windows 2003 storage server backup and restore question

I have a Windows 2003 storage server with a Tape Drive attached. I backup the entire drive E (this is my data drive). It contains 1500 folders. When I open the restore option the next day to test a restore I can’t open a tape to see the files to restore. Why? This used to work fine when I had a regular Windows 2000 server.
Any Ideas?
