Windows 2000 upgrade from Windows NT hanging?

We have been trying to upgrade our Windows NT PDC Server to Windows 2000 and have been looking at a "Please Wait..." screen for about 4 hours. We would like to know if other people have had these problems.

We started the upgrade from Windows NT, it copied files, made us agree to EULA and then rebooted. After this reboot it showed us a screen that says, "Please Wait...".

Anyone ever seen anything like this? The harddrives only blink every now and again, so it doesn't seem that the computer is hard at work.

Our main question is, should we restart?

wow...i just tried to do the same inplace upgrade. got the please wait, even after i rebooted several times. i even let it sit at the please wait for over 8 hrs just to see if anything would happen. in the end, i had to do a fresh install. i moved all of the data off of said computer and to a new one i just built (server 2003). the only time consuming thing was to add back all of the users (there are only 40) and setting up the permissions.

i had a little over 1.5 gigs of free space before the upgrade and win2k didn't flag me at all. i'm wondering if it ran out of disk space and just hung?

oh well. at least i didn't kill the data.
