I'm running Windows 2000 Professional. I have a screen saver set up with a password. The problem occurs anytime it's been sitting in screen saver mode for a little while. After I enter my password to return to windows, it pops up a screen beginning a windows shutdown, then it shuts down. This is really annoying, and I've yet to find a fix for it, or a reason as to why it happens. Please help.

Thanks.

What's the screensaver (is it standard windows one, or...)

Are you sure you've got password right?

I ask, as I remember there is a screensaver available that will shut down machine if wrong password is supplied.

It's happened with all different screen savers. Currently am using 3D flower box. Also, yes I'm pretty sure I've typed the password correctly.

virus?

Any other issues with this machine?

None. This isn't a specific machine issue, it's a windows 2000 issue. It's happened on other machines. =)

tteknos - I've never seen this behaviour on win2k machines - so presume it must be something in your config/setup. Here's a link to one of the shutdown screensaver apps - probably not much use to you, but you never know.
