I have a win2k server that reboots itself every night at 2:05 am. Since I'm usally having nightmares about my network at that time I've never seen it actually do this.

There are no scheduled tasks running, and no information was to be found via Microsoft knowledgebase.

Any ideas?

Thanks...

It's possible that the Aircon unit is off or it's in power saving mode during night time so your server will overheat and reboots.

What does the event log show? Do you have SUS? What about Backup software, What time does it run?

No, there is no air conditioning problems or other problems that would cause a power issue. In fact, the other computers sitting right next to the server don't reboot, but note when their connection to exchange drops.

Regarding backups, et. al.: backups are being done by hand right now and there is nothing scheduled whatsoever.

The event log shows the boot process only (which is how I know that it reboots [or hangs] at the same every night!).

Any other ideas? This is making me nuts!

Do you have a battery backup unit attached and it's software installed ?
Did you check for virus activity ?

Antivirus software...remember having a problem with a Virus scheduler that did some really odd things...might be worth lookign at.

Remember: Backups save jobs!!!
