Windows 2000 server but using dlink router as gateway

It's been over a year since I have had to mess with setting up a server so I have forgotten many things. I don't remember having this much of a problem. I have a small network at one of my companies locations thatI am working on. They just got a server with windows 2000 server to use as a file server. The problem I am encountering is that the server can access the internet but no one else can. The server and two other computers (running win 2000) hook directly into a dlink gateway/router (of which I have DHCP turned off) then there are two laptops running win XP that connect to the router through a wireless access point. I have the server set up as a DHCP server and it assigns a gateway address (for the router) to each of the clients, that seems to work ok, but the clients can not connect to the domain or the internet. At one point I had one computer (win 2000) actually connect to the domain and was listed on the server but all of a sudden it stopped responding. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
Thanks
Mike

Ok I got this fixed. Turns out that having the "." zone under your DNS Forward lookup zones will cause clients to not be able to find ISP DNS servers. Once I deleted the "." everything worked. Thanks anyway
