Hello all, I have enjoyed reading your previous responses, you guys are great. If you couldn't tell, this is mny first post. So "HI" from the n00b.
My problem is, I just setup a Windows 2000 Server with Win 95/98 Clients. I am using AD/DNS. My problem is, I cannot send a server to client message under Computer Management>Shared Folders>Send Console Message. I have tried several times. I looked on MS's website, and they said that if it did NOT go through, it would return you back to the Send Message Screen or something to that affect. When I try to send a message, it goes through the list and "Acts" like it has sent them, but no one recieves them. The ONLY one that receives them is when I send one to myself on the Server.

Any Advice?
Thanks!

you cannot use the send functionality to a Win9x client... you will need winpopup for that...

To NT/Win2K, the net send works fine I have not failed, I just found 10000 ways that don't work

As long as Winpopup on the Win9x client is running it will recieve a message from the server. If you go to (On the Server) START>RUN then type cmd and hit enter. Now at the prompt type:
net send (computername) (message)
without the parenthesis, does the message appear on the clients?

If you need winpopup on the Win9x machines go to START>RUN and type winpopup. Put and Icon in the startup folder if you like it running all the time. But as stated before it has to be running inorder for Win9x clients to recieve messages. James Collins
