Windows 2000 Professional Load Up Problem

Hello, I have this aggravating problem with my Windows 2000 Pro. When I turn on my computer in the morning the task bar pops up and then disappers. Then im left with a blank screen of just my background. Then I hit the restart button on my computer and let it load up again and it works. This has been happen every morning for about the last 4 weeks.

Ive tried leaving my computer on for about 10 mins at first load up and nothing happens. I have all the latest windows update. Also I have Nortans Anti-Virus that runs all the time and has been running ever since I had windows 2000 professional. Also im using Black ICE PC Protection for my firewall.

I woud start by running some Spyware detection software - Excellent free basic versions are AdAware and SpyBot.

There may be something running at startup that is causing a major hang.
