Windows 2000 pausing when certain things are clicked.

I have a machine running a pc chips 810lr board with a duron 1ghz with 256 mb ram, running win2k.

The win2k is an upgrade from win98se. (Also has novell but im not loggin in thru that as its not currently on network, but has been and will be).

My problem is this....When clicking on say control panel, mycomputer or say right clicking on desktop to get desktop properties, the computer seems to hang for about 1 minute then carry on.
The machine did the same thing with win98se on.

Ive updated the drivers for vga, lan, modem, sound and agp.
Ive not had any viruses/crashes recently, Scandisk tells me my data is fine.

More info in the 2k post! - Like, it did same with 98. So, I'd definitely backup, wipe drive and clean reinstall 2k as it looks to be a hangover from 98.
