have dell poweredge server w\2000 server(standard)has a scsi drive would like to put a IDE drive in and Ghost the C drive then pull it out and store it.Question is will norton ghost V10 do it or maybe acronis drive image V9 do it.thinking that if the scsi drive goes out i can remove it install the IDE and be back up in short time & of course replacing the scsi drive later and transfering the image back to it
Will either of the 2 programs work on win 2000

I've used Ghost, running off a bootable DOS disk, to accomplish exactly what you're trying to do. Usually I prefer to put images on CD-Rs instead of a hard drive, so I can rebuild a server without cracking the case, but I've done it both ways. I've also written images to an external USB 2.0 hard drive.

Some versions of Ghost do run from Windows now, but I prefer to run it from a DOS disk. It may work fine from Windows, but I've been doing it with DOS disks for years, so I've always been reluctant to mess with success. Look for a file called ghost.exe that's around a meg in size on your Ghost CD. That's your DOS executable.
