I'm doing a new instillation of Windows 2000 Professional and get the error code 7 which causes the instillation to stop. Now I'm stuck! Any advice would be appreciated.

Are you sure this code is not STOP error 0x7B, BOOT_DEVICE_INACCESSIBLE? This can occur during installation if your hard drives are not connected directly to the motherboard.

dbull,
Thanks for the info. The error was code 7 and I figured out what was wrong. I had to reconfigure a HP cd-writer plus device. I had the pins set to cable select for the HP and it should have been master. I had a DVD player set as master. I reconfigured the HP to master and the DVD to slave and all went well. I'm now loading software on my new computer!
