I am using Windows 2000 Domain controller unable to connect to the Internet through a NAT routing machine. Using the NAT routing machines IP address as the default gateway and also using business DNS server as preferred DNS server, which is also configured as a forwarder, five other workstations are using the domain controller IP address as their preferred DNS server. All workstations, domain controller, and NAT routing machines first NIC card all on static IP addresses. Please help. Newbie. Be gentle.

Im a little confused. Let me make sure I've got things straight.
You have a w2k Domain controller. It is also the main DNS server (configured to forward). There are 5 workstations using that server as their main DNS.
You have a NAT device you want to use to share the net. Everything is static IP.

When you say unable to get on the net, do you mean just browsing the web?

Can you ping an IP outside of you network? (Yahoo: 216.109.118.69) if so..

Does you DNS resolve names properly? Use NSLOOKUP to find out.

Is seems like one of those two things. If you can ping something outside your network -- its a DNS problem. If you can't its a NAT problem.

You might need to provide some specifics ie ip addresses if we need to dig deeper. If you have a nice NAT device that lets you login and test its internet connection make sure you do that too.

I used the NSLOOKUP command and i can not ping outside my network. So i know now that i have to dig a little deeper into the NAT device. Yes i mean web browser but i can ping everyone in my network and they can all see me. I will address the problem this afternoon and get back and thank you in advance.
