Windows 2000 DNS adding domain to queries

We just installed Windows 2000 last weekend and we are using the DNS. We seem to be O.K. for browsing the internet, but evertine our e-mail server is sending a DNS query, it appears that W2K is adding our Domain name to the end of the address. for example, if we are sending to aol, we get a DNS query that shows aol.com.ourdomain.com. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
