This happened after I rebooted my windows 2000 server and it brought to me to a blue screen and said HIVE file is missing or damaged, therefore windows wouldn't start. According to Microsoft, I had to copy the software folder under c:\windows\repair\software to \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SOFTWARE in order to start up windows.

well, I tried it and windows started normally. However, the Add or Remove program in Control Panel doesn't work anymore. I clicked so many times and it just doesn't do A thing. I am able to install a piece of software by browing the setup.exe and it would go ahead no problem, however, when I WANT TO REMOVE A PROGRAM FROM CONTROL PANEL, nothing happens! See anyone of you can help me with this issue, Any help would be appreciated !!

worst comes to worst I have to reinstall the OS, but if there is an easier way, that would be great!

If you place the os cd in, you should get an option to repair. I haven't done this in a while, but it's worth checking out. Good luck. Glen A. Johnson
