I will be setting up a Windows 2000 server next week which needs to connect to an existing UNIX Server. The Windows 2000 will be Active directory and eventually will replace the UNIX server.

What I need to know is how do I get the Unix Server and the Windows 2000 Server talking to each other?

Any help would be appreciated

thanks in advance

Jade

How do you need them to talk to each other?
You could create a share on one of the machines and connect to it from the other C:\DOS:>
C:\DOS:>RUN
RUN DOS RUN!!

Microsoft has a Services for Unix package that may or may not accomplish what you need (maybe be a bit more specific?). Anyway, there's more information on that available at
I would guess your primary concern is NFS support, which you need to access unix file systems from NT, and NT shares from Unix. That's included in the SFU pack. Marc Creviere

SMB! Setup the SMB service on the unix computer. I have setup something similar here. I integrated a linux server to our NT domain. Now all windows clients can access shares on the linux server.

If you're looking for name resolution, you can use host files on the NT and UNIX boxes.

hi,

I am new to this group. I am not a unix expert. However, I have an e-cabinet that runs on unix and am trying to backup the data to a NAS server which is Win2k advanced server. I receive a "unable to mount NFS host" error when testing the connection. I am assuming that I need to purchase and install windows services for unix, but it seems to me that I need to install something on the Windows server.

The NAS does have a services for UNIX inclusion in Computer Management. I am not familiar on how to set that up, even if it is what I need. Any help would be appreciated
