I'm considering upgrading my OS to Windows 2000 for more stability in my programming and other boring applications. However, I do a lot of gaming on the same system. Will I be able to game on this system with the same performance I've always enjoyed? ----------------------------------------

What games are you planning on playing? Many of the latest games work under Win2k. Mike Wills

I have been running Win2kPro for about 9 months and I can run almost every game that I ran on Win98SE. Check the software companies web site to see if the games you are going to be playing are compatible with Win2KPro. Also, you can check out this web site, it has tons of apps, hardware, and games that people have confirmed and can tell you how to get them to work.

I have been running Win2k for just over a uear and have han no significant trouble playing games on it. The only ones I have seen not run so far are ones designed spicifically for Win9x or DOS before Win2k came out (such as Wing Commander V). I have had no problems at all with Unreal Tournament, Half-Life, Star Fleet Command, Rainbow Six, Rainbow Six Rouge Spear, Delta Force 2, Delta Force Land Warrior, IAF, Freespace, Freespace II, and many others. If you have a question about a spicific game, post it and I will let you know if I have tried it.

One final note. If you are going to install older gane such as Half-life, I highly recommend that you first upgrade to DX8. Win2k shipped with its Direct X version numbered V1 (even though it was compatable with Dx 7.1, I think). If you allow these older games to install an older version of Direct X, you will have problems.

I play games very good on my PC installed with windows 2000, I use a Geforce3 ,and Windows2000 has performed very well as a gamming system, just dont use any really old 3d accelerate games and you should be fine. Karl Blessing aka kb244{fastHACK}
