Hi Everyone,

Do anyone know where I can find the administration tools for XP? We've just upgraded to 2K with AD, but the tools that's on the server CD's not compatible with XP.

At the moment it's quite a mess, because we have to run to a server if we need to do something.

Your help would be grately appreciated!

Many thanks! Gerhard Scheepers

you have two choices install terminal services for admin purposes or install the ADMINPAK on the w2k server cd in i386 directory and yes it does work on XP. I use it

the only thing you can not administrator on a client is the Domain Controler Security Policy. this must be done on a DC

Thanks for the advise! I've installed the package, but when I try and run i.e. Active Directory User and Computers and get a message:- Snap-in failed to initialize...

Any idea why and how I can resolve it?

Thanks! Gerhard Scheepers

I get the same error as Gerhard.

I did notice when I was installing the apps that the installation package advised that the adminpak was incompatible with XP.

Will try technet for an answer.

Cheers,

Pete

I manage to solve the problem by uninstalling the 2000 adminpak and downloading the .NET server adminpak from Microsoft.

Everything works just fine now!
