Please help!!

Win 2000 pro workstation in win 2000 server domain. This work station loses connection to a win 95 print server during the day. The only way to connect again is to log off and then back on but still loses connection. I can ping the ip address with no problem and also ping print_server. Can anyone help, starting to get desperate.

Yes several times. i also failed to mention that i also lose connection to another win 2000 pro workstation as well. I have noticed today that our power in this area keeps "flickering" causing the battery backup to activate very quickly. Do you think this could be the problem?

Are your routers and switches on the "battery backup" as well?

Rich Cook -- "Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning."

They are on their own battery backup. I also failed to mention that we do not loose connection to the domain controller or the shares on the domain controller.

When you lose the connection(s) try pinging the NIC itself. ping 127.0.0.1. Does the ping return or fail? If it fails, the NIC is probably bad. With all the problems with the power spiking I'd be surprised if a piece of hardware isn't getting flaky.

Also ping the print server. Let the ping go on until interrupted. Also try doing a ipconfig /release then a renew.

I have pinged the nic, pinged 127.0.0.1, released and renewed ip address and pinged the print server by name and ip address with sucess. Still losing connection. Driving me nuts.
