WinXP system. Start from fresh boot and put in a floppy disk and it'll read it. Remove that floppy and put in another and hit refresh and it won't. It just keeps that directory of the first disk until a reboot. Any ideas? Other than the one I know that I have to train this user to SAVE TO THE NETWORK rather than floppy disks...:)

I saw this once before back in the old DOS days. The floppy drive is defective. Try a new floppy drive (pull one from a working computing computer).

Thank you! I also posted this in the "browser issues..." forum because I thought at first it was something with IE (DUH!). Someone there told me it was pin 34 to the floppy drive or within the cable. A tech who works for me part-time just went and checked it out prepared to either check the pin/cable or swap the drive and found pin 34 completely bent sidewise. He unbent it and all is happy now. HURRAY! Thank you for your help, too!
