You can change the file associations through Windows exploreer. Click View > Folder Options > File Type. That's where you would change the way it opens the different type files.

You could restore the registry to the day before you changed the file associations. That'll set it back to the way it was.

Win98: Start your computer and keep tapping the F8 key, and then using the arrrow keys choose Safe Mode Command Prompt Only from the Windows 98 Startup menu and press ENTER. At the MS-DOS prompt, type cd\windows\command and then press ENTER. At the C: prompt type scanreg /restore and then press ENTER. There's a space between the g and /. Then select a registry dated the day before the problem and then press ENTER. NOTE: A properly working registry has the word "Started" next to the date. When you receive notification that you restored a properly working registry, press ENTER to restart your computer.

Note: if you do this choose a registry copy that's dated the day before or one that has the same date as the day when the file associations were changed. Do not choose a date that weeks or months old if one is present. Make sure of the date before you restore it.

I tried running regedit but IT started up in winamp also;I told this guy that probably there's a solution to the problem but his box is legacy ware some "some guy" and *that* person was apparently an idiot-why else would notepad and anyother number of elemental progs be in the 'open with...' list but not be physically present?

hallo,'format c:\' !!!!

thanks alot,anyway.....
