Win98se Monitor Won't Suspend!?

About 7 months back I had a major system crash with ZoneAlarm that, above what was stated by the higher power, did not get formatted instead worked over successfully. Well, with one exception.

While clearing out either malformaties or rubbish I also removed one of the two "LoadPowerProfile" items from the MSCONFiG 'StartUp' Roster. Turns out I needed that one to suspend my Monitor [oops], the drives suspend fine.

Well, 7 months later I am still surfing for a fix to this. With summer now here being able to conserve heat on a 21" monitor is not easy without shutting it off every chance you get [what a pain].

I have tried uninstalling the monitor from the Hardware Manager and a few crazy last chances with no success.

So anyways ... has anyone found any links on fixing this or had to fix it when one became a little "duplicate delete happy" =) I know a simple format would do but it takes too long to reinstall windows (from the drive mind you =). So any help......

- I would be MOST appreciative

I think I remember a way to create another LoadPowerProfile in your registry but I can't remember how. I will have to look when I get home since I'm on win2k right now. If you feel like looking around I do remember it is under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. I will have to get back with you unless someone else knows this. -Brad

Yup, actually there is two under the HKLM in the RunServices and Run key folders. I spoke with another party and thay said you maybe able to cure this thru re-extracting the powrprof.dll file using System File Checker (SFC).

I did do a SFC on my system during these posts last nite and though it found a couple errors none of them were in relation to my problem.

- Thanx Brad !
