I've noticed that my c: and D: drive are both reporting approximately 800 MB of diskspace remaining and 6 GB in use. When I manually add up the total amount or diskspace in use it is only approx 2 GB same issue on D.

Any ideas? I even downloaded a disk explorer and found it is reporting the same remaining disk space.

Run scandisk. This should correct the error by freeing up all the lost clusters, if this is what the problem proves to be. Did this, by any chance, occur after a crash? And did you cancel scandisk at the next startup? Recommend you always allow it to run if it wants to. There's usually a good reason for it doing so. Andy. My suggestions are what I would try myself. If incorrect, I welcome corrections to my rather limited knowledge. Andy.

Known Windows issue. It will ALWAYS read only 2 gig, until you fill up the drive BEYOND 2 gig, then it will report correctly. Do some hunting on the MS site, and ignore what you're seeing. Cheers,
Jim

fortunat,
You say it reads that you have 6GB in use, but you can only account for 2GB?? Also, what is the total capacity of the hard drive and is it partitioned?
