Win98 laptop doesnt see WinXp desktop

I have a WinXP desktop with a Netgear router that is connected to a cable modem.
Also have a Win98 laptop with a Netgear PC card.

The Win98 laptop connects to the internet without problems.
The Win98 laptop can ping the WinXp desktop. The Winxp Desktop can ping the Win98 laptop.
The problem: I cannot get the Win98 laptop see the Winxp machine at all in network neighborhood (workgroup names are the same).

Any ideas?

Assuming you have NETBEUI protocol running on the WIN98 machine, try adding same protocol to XP PC.

I didnt have file and print sharing checked on the WinXP desktop.
