Win98 Inconsistent Boot Hang

Win98 PII 450 Machine with current BIOS hangs inconsistently after splash screen and audio driver load. Reset lets me boot with limited drivers, shut down, restart and everything comes back normal? Bootlog only shows these 2 failures, 1 deviceinitfailure=lmul and 2 deviceinitfailure= sdvxd.
Would a problem with an updated video driver possibly cause this?

Regarding various boot log errors, see Microsoft's KB article: Load Failures Listed in the Bootlog.txt File (Q127970)

If it is not still available, go to and search for sdvxd, and find the reference to above, then call up google's cashed archive of it. Good info for you.
