Win98 explorer window blank?!? 1

Hi,

Windows 98SE PC. When windows explorer is open and you click on a folder in the left hand pane the contents are displayed in the right hand pane in the first 3 views:
large icon
small icon
list

but if I select details the right hand pane is blank!
Right clicking in the empty pane and selecting properties shows the number and size of the files as normal.

Microsofts site only lists a possible registry key corruption fix which I have tried and it doesn't work.

Has anyone ever come across this one??

To work around this behavior, click in the right pane, and then press CTRL+PLUS SIGN (make sure to use the PLUS SIGN key on the numeric keypad).

That worked straight away. I should maybe have looked for the obvious before trying to get technical on it.
