Does this mean:
o the Win32 API will not be available Longhorn onwards
o it will continue to be available, but only bugs will be fixed - no new features but (a) deprecated (b) not deprecated

Still there, still available. I'd guess it will be considered deprecated for most applications.

The new stuff is layered on top of the old stuff, much as today with .Net: Basic Longhorn Architecture (Illustration).

I would worry about it two or three releases after Longhorn.

Assuming Longhorn makes a dent in the market, that is. From what I've read, it'll require everyone to buy new peta-hertz processors with a terabyte of RAM.

I take it longhorn is the new windows operating system in development?
Whats going to be oh so different to the current operating systems or is this still very much a beta program with little to no released details?
