We're finally moving from NT4.0 to Win2k server here and I just wondered if I could install MS Proxy Server 2.0 on Win2k. Thank you in advance

You can, however you will need a patch before you install. Should be on M$ web site somewhere. I don't really recommend it though, i gave up and upgraded to ISA.

Greetings,

I would agree. Proxy 2.0 on Windows 2000 when useing RRAS.

HEADACHE.. We upgrade to ISA.. Problems with ports droping Proxy stopping on its own.

ISA. Easy to use and config.

Thank you chaps! Just out of interest, what do you guys reckon to the old Internet Connection Sharing on Win2k Server? Any good? Or should I just bite the bullet and go for ISA?

Depends on security. If using RRAS / NAT thats usually fine. But you may require more secure options (port blocking, blocking IP addresses, etc which ISA does rather well).
Or perhaps to save licencing costs, find an old P200 + machine, install 2/3 NICS and download smoothwall - a free firewall which is VERY good.
I use it on 3 of our sites now and am planning to put more boxes in very soon
