Did you install any new HW/SW recently?. If so, this could be the cause of the problem. To see if it is rebooting because of a problem, from the desktop, right click on My Computer, then left click properties, click on the Advanced Tab, and then Startup and Recovery, and under System Failure, make sure Automatically Reboot ISN'T checked. If you get a "BSOD", then post back with the "Stop" message.
I have the same problem, the fix from Paul
did not work for me.
I have reinstaled w2k 3 times for other reasons,
but this problem comes back every time.
I have know now what caused my problem, a piece of DVD authoring s/w, although I don't yet know exactly why.
My solution was to copy the program directory to another drive, re-install Win2K, and amazingly it runs without the need for the registry entries which presumably caused the problems.
If and when I get the time I will try and track down exactly what caused the problem.
PS I used Ghost to help speed up this process greatly
