Anybody ever seen this one. I have a Win2k Pro on a Celeron 500 mhz Computer. Bios for an Award V6.00PG, looks like 7-10-99 version. The computer will boot up and install windows just fine, and connect ot the network. Then about 10 seconds into it, it turns off the network card like it's not even there. Shows the network card is working fine, and the computer has an ip address, but I can't connect to anything or browse the network. This happens to the 4 computers that I have that are identical to this one. Here's the kicker, when it's windows 98 on these machines, there is no problem. They stay connected and never lose site. Any ideas? Is it the BIOS?

Thanks,
Swish

sorry for the late reply - i was just browsing and saw your post.

I've had a similar problem before and found that it was infact the drivers for the NIC causing the problem.

Although win2k probably bashed on its own generic set of drivers they're not completely compatible with the hardware. Try and find the correct win2k version drivers for your NIC and reinstall it.

Good luck
