HI Everyone, I currently have a Win2K server that was upgraded from Nt4.0 Server. Now it looks like to me that after the upgrade that none of the licenses were ever moved over. The problems are in License manager it is showing "Per Seat purchased 168" "Per Sever reached -247"?
also it is showing "Per Seat purchased 168" and our "Per Seat allocated 170" Users have more than one license to their name and when we delete the ones that are never used they still come back. Any ideas?

Well that's fine and dandy, but isn't there a patch available through Microsoft that allows you to fix it. I have heard of people calling tech support and getting a patch that is only offered if you call in which corrects the problem, has anyone heard of this or know what the file is called? Or anyone know of any Q Doc on this type of problem?

I have upgraded our DC to SP 3 but that has not corrected the problem. We have no Winnt4.0 servers on the domain and yet in domain manager it shows up as NT 4.0 licenses. Also when a user signs off his/her PC it is not releasing the licenses and our count just keeps going up and up! Any ideas?

Tell it you have 99,999 licences, delete all the old licences in unse once a month.

As long as you have all your documentation, the software police will not bother you...

You may have an orphan domain and/or domain controller left over from your NT4 system as I did when I updated my NT4 system to Win2k. I used a program called NTDSUTIL to remove the orphans from active directory. Search Google.com for NTDSUTIL for info on how to use the utility. It works but it is definitely not for the faint of heart--read up on it before you use it. Good luck.
