this just doesnt seem right one of the hdd's i have installed all of a sudden quit showing up in the my computer/explorer with out a system shut down.i shut down and restarted the drive is detected fine my c-mos on boot and is showing in the device manager of windows but not showing in the my computer/windows explorer. i am logged on as admin, i have a total of 3 drives 2 of them are showing up fine in the explorer. any ideas??thanks

I got an idea.. there's about 13,000 viruses going around that hide your other drives.. have you scanned recently? what about updating your dat's? If all else fails, check out the housecall online virus scanner.. they'll tell if somethings in there screwin up stuff..

If you do have a virus that's casuing this, the only way i've found to permanently get rid of it is the ol' format method.. yup

What about group policies? or even the local security policy?
good luck

Try going to the disk manager utility and see if it shows up there. You may have to do import foreign disk. (Right click on disk)

thanks for the help everyone for some odd reason it lost the drive letter. there was a delay write fail in the log so im guessing maybe that had something to do with it ..maybe???but its back there now ...thanks again
