Does anyone know of a past or current issue that will cause Win2k to not boot up. Here is what happens: Their systems will boot up just right before the logon screen but then freezes. You can then shutdown the system and bring it back up and it will boot correctly but it starts all over again when you either shutdown or restart. I would have suspected this to be a single system problem except now I am getting this same issue with about a dozen other pc's.

P.S. I have updated Norton and ran a complete system scan, ran adaware, spyware, and even the new windows spyware beta version.

press F8 to access the troubleshooting menu, when win2k starts to boot.
Chose option > Last known good config ... to try booting with the last known working control set.

If you cannot log in are you using the power button to shutdown the system or the shutdown option on the sign on screen?

If it's happening to a bunch of computers are they in a domain environment? If so, try unplugging the network cable from one machine and see if you can logon locally.

I finally found the cause, Microsoft anti spyware found the spyware that was causing the issue but left the entry in the registry. Deleted the entry and the problem hasn't been back since.
