Hello,
I am having problems with getting my computer to boot with new 128 MB 16Mx64 PC-133 Low Density SDRAM.
Using one or both sticks placed alternately in slots 1 and 2, a blue screen appears. In some cases, I go through the memory check OK, but it only counts up to 128MB even though both sticks are inserted.
A memory configurator from a company on Price Watch told me that low density PC-133 SDRAM would work OK in my ASUS P2B mother board with CPU running at 600 MHZ, eventhough this motherboard has been running with PC-100 low density ram for 7 years.
The original 128 MB RAM stick I have that continues to work is PC-100, low density.
So far, have not been mixing the original stick, and the two new ones. My tests have included the two sticks of new PC-133 ram alone, unmixed with the original 128 MB stick that continues to work fine, alone, in slot 1.
I tried changing CMOS SDRAM Bios configuration to slower clock speeds with no luck. I also tried disabling shadowing with no luck. Tried interchanging the sticks, and tried 1 stick alone in slot 1, with boot problems remaining.
Why is this so difficult? Do you fellows have ideas on how I can get the RAM to work? Or, am I completely out of luck, and will I have to send back the PC 133 RAM and try to search the net until I find some old PC-100 RAM, that apparently is no longer being made?
All ideas appreciated.
