I have a Win2K Domain Server. Domain Server has DHCP and DNS and WINS installed.
The 2K server has:
Internal IP 192.168.1.2
External DNS say 20.20.12.20 & 20.20.15.20

All users are set to Auto IP and DNS. They all get IPs and DNS info from the 2K domain server.
How do I give them access to use the internet without building an Proxy Server?
Do I have to forward the DNS info thru the 2K DNS service? How do I do that?

If a user has Auto IP but I enter the DNS info Manually (entering the DNS servers from the ISP) into the XP/NT machine, they have access to the internet, but I want their IP and DNS info set to Auto.

Anyone can help me here please????

THANK YOU

what info are you suppling the PC in DHCP

to stipulate what DNS to use you simply go to the DHCP Snapin

Select Scope Optins - Properties
Scroll down to DNS Server
Highlight - input IP address into the boxes in order that you want.

No. Does not work. What I want to do is basically for all users to use the internet thru the PDC.
I want them to have TCP/IP settings set to Auto and DNS settings set to Auto. When I do that, their DNS info and IP info comes from the 2K Domain server. When that happens, the users CANNOT access the internet, but If I put Auto IP and Manually add the DNS Servers from the ISP instead of the PDC, than they can access the internet.

How do I forward the ISP DNS info the users using Auto IP and DNS on the client side, so that they can access the internet?

THANK YOU

What addresses are the clients being given for the DNS servers? When you followed rphips' instructions the clients didn't get the correct addresses for the DNS servers?
ipconfig /all will tell the DNS settings on the client.

Hi can the server access the internet?

Have you set up forwarding? on the server

setup your server to run dhcp

set your stations to obtain IP from DHCP

you can use AD for your XP stations to get the internet settings.

Some lead, some follow....I just Hope!
