I rebooted a win2k workstation the other day. I had about 14 programs open on it and it was just acting sluggish. I closed all the programs, and did a Start -> Shutdown -> Restart just like your supposed to.

Now when I bring it up it waits about twenty seconds and reboots itself over and over. If I bring it up in safe mode it doesn't reboot itself. I am stumped and don't know where to start.

If anyone has ever seen this before, has any pointers or can even point me in the general direction of a resolution I'd be really appreciative.

thanks,
Kelly

Check out "Thread602-265223" He as the same problem. You might get some ideas from his post.

Hi here's something you can try.
Bring up your computer in safe mode.
Right click on My Computer and pick Properties.
Click the Advanced tab then click Startup and Recovery.
For System Failure uncheck 'Automatically reboot'.
I do this for all new systems I have to configure becuz when there is a startup error then the STOP code error page will stay up for me to troubleshoot rather than reboot.
If you are getting STOP/BSoD errors here's some pages that might be helpful and for more just do a search on Google or somewhere.
Good luck.

I would also look at Start|Programs|StartUp and see what programs are being automatically loaded when Windows starts up. And if you have made any recent driver changes or added software I would try un-installing and re-installing those.

You don't mention any particular software you are using so i'll mention my little episode with constantly rebooting W2K just in case..... My problem was caused by (If i recall the name correctly!!) Direct CD, it's the re-writable portion of Adaptec's Easy CD Creator. {It runs on startup to check for re-writable disks in yer drive.} Anyway, to get to the point, if you're using this particular software then it's likely that this is your problem, and there's a download available form adaptecs web-site!

Hope this helps!

It seemed hopeless. I just reinstalled W2k. Doesn't work fine but, it works.sd
