Win2000 Hanging

Hello Everyone
This is strange when I go to save a document in word/excel etc. The os seems to hang when I hit the drop down button to list other locations to save the documents.This happens on more then one win2k machine.The Versions of office are 97 and 2000 happens on both.Any IDEAS?????

I have seen the OS hang for a second or two but never more than 5 when doing things in the Office environment. Looking at your post, I can't tell if the system hangs for good, or only a few seconds. I have not found anything to fix the hang of a few seconds. I just accept it because the system doesn't crash where other older versions of Windows would at that point. Jason Wichman

I would also check for the SirCam virus which causes your computer to hang and act really slow. Might not hurt to at least try. There is a FIXSIRC.com on Symantec website made specifically for that virus.

I had a similar problem and when I cleared the recent docs/web pages etc...problem solved! Right click task bar, properties, advanced, click clear. Let me know if that works for you.

all of these are viable solutions. One other thing, if you have mapped network drive, this is a performance killer especially if someone has shut there system down.

When I attempt to do what you have said the Clear button is diable in that menu. I am going to check another machine,but what can I do to enable that button.

I now realize that the Clear button will renable when you build history.IS there a way to reset that button manually.
