Does anyone know why I can no longer see the Security Center Essentials part of the attached screen. Starting and restarting the PC will not make it appear. Checking on the firewall and the updates show that it is indeed running, but before I installed NAV 2006 I was still able to see the essentials part of the screen. Do you think NAV took this over? I cannot seem to find anything in my Norton SystemsWorks suite that would indicate this, but it started right after I updated to 2006 version. (guess I cannot attach the picture here)

Yes, Norton System Works will take over many of the reporting functions from Windows Security Center. Somewhere during the installation of SW, there's some mention of this behavior.

OK, I have uninstalled and reinstalled NAV 2006 and made sure I unselected NAV for worm/firewall. How can I get the Microsoft Security Center Essential re-started. I cannot seem to find where that is - it says it is stopped but how to I get it restarted?

Imageshack has security issues. Please use photobucket.

Imageshack has security issues".

Can you link to, or elaborate on the issues, without incurring the wrath of the lawyers?

Subscribers to MVP Security and Spyware listserv have discussed several times the possible security issues with images hosted at ImageShack.

And a popular Spyware and Security web site has instructed its moderators: "Until we've found out that ImageShack has changed their policies/tightened things up, if you see any embedded images in the Forums which point to ImageShack, please PM the member and ask him/her to use another avatar or put their custom avatar on, e.g., PhotoBucket instead."

I uploaded to photobucket but how do I reference it herein?

Do you have a URL to link to where your file is stored? If so just copy and paste the link in the reply section where you normally post.

To include and image in your post:

Surround a complete URL to the image in "[ ]" preceding the URL with the word "img", like so:
happy.gif

I removed the verbs from your path so that it reads:

Run the System File Checker program from the Run Box by typing.....Sfc /Scannow in it and have your XP CD handy.

Is the security center service running?

Start > Run > type 'Services.msc' without the '. Scroll down to Security Center and make sure that it has been started.

Note If your computer is part of a domain (a group of computers on a network), your security settings are typically managed by your network administrator. In this case, the Security Center does not display your security status or send alerts.
