Hi all,

At work we have new PC's running XP PRO. For some unknown reason a few times in the days the users are disconnected from the NT server. They suddenly have the pop-up window asking them to enter the username and password again.

The setting of each user is that they would not get disconnected from the server if the session is idle.

Any ideas regarding what could cause this problem.

Thank you in advance for your tips !!

I don't have a specific answer, but I'm going to guess that it has something to do with DNS or WINS. I know NT 4.0 used WINS as it's primary namimg resolution and XP relies on DNS. Check your settings on the server and workstation.

It sounds like these machines are not part of the domain - is that correct. If so have you tried adding them to the domain?

You also want to ensure that the Network card isn't set to switch itself off to save power!

I hate that!
