Maybe I'm the only one with this particular problem because it is not among the known issues in

Update Rollup 1 for Windows 2000 SP4 and known issues

and even Google did not return anything similar.

I've installed this update about 10 times, as my update history shows. Each time the update was also confirmed as successfull.

The Windows Update however keeps coming up with the "High Priority" update

Update Rollup 1 for Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 (KB891861)

Total: 1 updates , 0 KB , 0 minutes *
(*Downloaded; ready to install)

I've tried several different ways to install Rollup 1, always with restart, to no avail.

According to MS it should be listed in "Add/Remove Programs but this is not the case here.

Maybe you have any ideas?

Thanks,

TomCologne

are you administrator on your machine?It could be a permissions problem on certain files

Thanks for your reply, RMBELGIUM.

Yes, I am Administrator. And it's only this particular update.

This is the Registry entry:

Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates\Windows 2000\SP5\Update Rollup 1]
"Description"="Update Rollup 1 for Windows 2000 SP4"
"PackageName"="Update Rollup 1 for Windows 2000 SP4"
"InstallerName"="Update.exe"
"ARPLink"="HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Uninstall\\Update Rollup 1"
"InstalledDate"="7/1/2005"
"InstalledBy"="Administrator"
"UninstallCommand"="C:\\WINNT\\$NtUpdateRollupPackUninstall$\\spuninst\\spuninst.exe "
"Type"="Update"

I don't know what the Windows Update is looking for or where but I'm now thinking about adding Rollup 1 manually to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

Thanks again & Happy Labor Day to the US members,

TomCologne

I need to correct myself, "Rollup 1" appears in the Uninstall list.
