Help, I have a computer with windows 98 on it. When I turn it on it loads and the Win 98 screen appears, then it checks everything, then turns to a black screen. Then the message 'Its now safe to turn off your computer' appears. When I start in safe mode the computer 'hangs' on the win 98 screen.
Can anyone help?

Hi. I wouldn't even try debugging that one. Just reinstall Windows and get it over with. Don Swayser

I know this might sound stupid but how did you boot into safe mode did the computer reboot and do this automatically or did you select it using your keyboard?
The reason I ask is because I had a problem I had moved my pc and worked on another no problem set my pc up and had a similar problem. I hate to admit that I had put the mouse and keyboard in the wrong socket. (happens to the best of us)
But if this didn't happen to you forget the above and reinstall windows as adviced above.
good luck
